WAYS IN WHICH THE RESEARCHER CAN OFFER MEANINGFUL HELP TO THE CLINICIAN AND CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCHERS WHICH ARE IMPORTANT TO EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION.
Abstract
IDEALLY, THE RESEARCHER CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOAL OF RATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT IN FIVE AREAS. THE RESEARCHER CAN (1) REPRESENT A FUND OF KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING PAST TREATMENT PROGRAM SUCCESSES AND FAILURES, (2) AID PROGRAM STAFF IN CONCEPTUALIZING CLIENT PROBLEMS (INCLUDING CLIENT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS), TREATMENT GOALS AND TREATMENT STRATEGIES, (3) MONITOR PROGRAM TO GUARANTEE THAT INTENDED PROGRAM IS CARRIED OUT, (4) PROMOTE STAFF GROWTH BY FEEDING BACK INFORMATION REGARDING PROGRAM PROCESSES, QUALITY, AND IMPACT, AND (5) DISSEMINATE RESEARCH FINDINGS IN SUCH A WAY AS TO ENCOURAGE RATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND CHANGE.
