This report documents all disciplinary reports written in the Massachusetts Department of Correction from July 1, 1979, to December 31, 1979.
Abstract
Information includes the total number of individuals who received disciplinary reports by age, race, sentence, and committing institution. Also given are the month the report was made by the type of report, the findings of the disciplinary report, appeal outcomes for guilty dispositions, and the number of good conduct days lost according to the number of isolation days imposed. The report indicates that 3,727 disciplinary reports were written to 2,261 individuals. About one-third of all reports were written at Walpole, the State's maximum security institution. An average of 621 reports were written during the course of a month. Most disciplinary reports resulted in guilty findings and were written on white inmates. Statistical tables are included.
