COMPUTERIZATION OF CORRECTION AND PAROLE RECORDS IS DESCRIBED. AN APPENDIX LISTS STUDIES NOW UNDERWAY USING THE NEW INFORMATION RETRIEVAL CAPABILITY.
Abstract
CLERICAL WORK REQUIRED TO FINISH PUTTING RECORDS INTO THE COMPUTER AND FILES GENERATED ARE EXPLAINED. THE PROGRAM WAS WRITTEN TO GENERATE STANDARD MONTHLY LISTS OF CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION RESIDENTS, FURLOUGH HISTORIES, PAROLE ELIGIBILITY, AND OTHER BASIC INFORMATION. IN ADDITION, MANY SPECIAL LISTINGS INVOLVING SELECTED CHARATERISTICS ARE POSSIBLE. TO DATE THESE LISTINGS HAVE BEEN USED TO STUDY: (1) AN ANALYSIS OF RECIDIVISM AMONG RESIDENTS RELEASED FROM BOSTON STATE AND SHIRLEY PRERELEASE CENTERS 1972-1973; (2) 1974 CLIENT PROFILE MASSACHUSETTS HALF-WAY HOUSES; (3) A COMPARISON BETWEEN PRERELEASE PROGRAM COMPLETERS AT MASSACHUSETTS HALF-WAY HOUSES, INC.; (4) PROFILE OF CHARACTERISTICS DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN PROGRAM COMPLETERS AND PROGRAM NONCOMPLETERS IN MASSACHUSETTS' PRERELEASE CENTERS; (5) COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE MASSACHUSETTS FURLOUGH PROGRAM; (6) CHARLOTTE HOUSE PRERELEASE CENTER FOR WOMEN PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS AND RECIDIVISM FOLLOWUP; (7) A STUDY OF A COEDUCATIONAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY; (8) THE EFFECTS OF A COEDUCATIONAL CORRECTIONAL EXPERIENCE: A CONTINUED ANALYSIS; (9) FOUR SPECIAL RECIDIVISM STUDIES BY INSTITUTION; (10) AN EVALUATION OF THE NORFOLK FELLOWSHIP; (11) A PROFILE OF VIETNAM ERA VETERANS INCARCERATED IN MASSACHUSETTS CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS; (12) A CHARACTERISTICS OF MAJOR VIOLATORS IN MASSACHUSETTS; AND (13) ANNUAL STATISTICAL REPORTS. STATUS OF RESEARCH PROJECTS IS GIVEN AND FINDINGS ARE BRIEFLY SUMMARIZED.
