This report discusses the commission's complaints screening procedures, status of its docket, and sources of complaints.
Abstract
The commission was established in 1978 to investigate complaints of judicial misconduct and incapacity and to recommend dispostions to the supreme court. Between 1978-79, the commission received between two and three inquiries for every one complaint form distributed and disposed of 79 percent of the complaints within about 2 months of filing. Most complaints were from dissatisfied litigants or their relatives; almost all of these complaints were dismissed. The report also covers commission funding, staff and location, operating rules, and meetings.
