THIS REPORT, DATED JUNE 29, 1976, PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF A STUDY OF MANPOWER UTILIZATION AND DEPLOYMENT OF THE MARYSVILLE (MI) POLICE DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS A POLICE FORCE OF ELEVEN TO SERVE THE 5,610 MARYSVILLE RESIDENTS.
Abstract
MARYSVILLE IS SITUATED ALONG THE ST. CLAIR RIVER, ACROSS THE RIVER FROM SARNIA, CANADA. THE AREA DISPLAYS A SIGNIFICANT POTENTIAL FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH, WHICH PROMPTED CITY OFFICIALS TO QUESTION WHETHER THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS ORGANIZED AND EQUIPPED TO MEET ITS CURRENT AND FUTURE SERVICE DEMANDS. THIS STUDY WAS AN OUTGROWTH OF THAT CONCERN. THE ANALYSIS WAS BASED ON ONSITE CONVERSATIONS WITH POLICE PERSONNEL. THIS REPORT CONTAINS AN OVERVIEW OF THE MARYSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AN ANALYSIS OF CURRENT MANPOWER DEPLOYMENT AND UTILIZATION PRACTICES COUPLED WITH A RECOMMENDATION FOR MODIFICATION, AND SOME BRIEF COMMENTS ON ORGANIZATION AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT.
