THIS ANNUAL REPORT OF THE MANITOBA, CANADA, POLICE COMMISSION OUTLINES ITS ACHIEVEMENTS FOR 1978.
Abstract
THE MANITOBA POLICE COMMISSION WAS INSTITUTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE PROVINCIAL POLICE ACT AND IS A RESEARCH, STANDARDIZATION, AND COORDINATION BODY TO PROMOTE THE PREVENTION OF CRIME, EFFICIENCY OF POLICE SERVICES, AND POLICE/COMMUNITY RELATIONS IN THE PROVINCE OF MANITOBA, CANADA. TO PERFORM THESE DUTIES, THE COMMISSION HAS DEVELOPED THE FOLLOWING PRIORITY AREAS: UPGRADING POLICE SERVICES IN NORTHERN MANITOBA, DEVELOPING YOUTH/POLICE RELATIONS PROGRAMS, EVALUATING THE LEVEL OF POLICE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE PROVINCE, CONDUCTING SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS, DISSEMINATING INFORMATION ON THE PREVENTION OF CRIME, AND COORDINATING TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR POLICE PERSONNEL. THIS REPORT DETAILS HOW SUCCESSFUL THE COMMISSION HAS BEEN IN MEETING THESE PRIORITIES IN 1978 AND DOCUMENTS THE COMMISSION'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO CRIME PREVENTION, COMMUNITY RELATIONS, AND INFORMATION DISSEMINATION IN THE FORM OF PUBLICATIONS, PRESENTATIONS, WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCES, AND SPECIAL PROJECTS.
