Abstract
The text contains 16 chapters on the management and supervision of law enforcement personnel. The first five chapters cover the special role of supervisors in law enforcement, managerial functions of supervisors, managerial functions of planning, the supervisor as a leader, and the supervisor as a communicator. Subsequent chapters look at the supervisor as an interviewer, a performance evaluator, a human relations specialist, a trainer, and a disciplinarian. Other chapters cover complaints from subordinates, complaints against employees, problem-solving, the supervision of field operations, the use of physical force, and the personnel promotion process.
