STATISTICAL STUDY OF 200 SERIOUSLY MALADJUSTED, NONDELINQUENT BOYS 13 TO 18 YEARS OLD, COMPARING THEM WITH 500 RANDOMLY SELECTED, DELINQUENT BOYS 14 TO 18 YEARS OLD.
Abstract
THE MEDICAL HISTORIES OF THE PARENTS AND RELATIVES OF THE 200 BOYS WERE THOROUGHLY STUDIED. THE BOYS WERE GIVEN THOROUGH PHYSICAL AND NEUROPSYCHIATRIC EXAMINATIONS, AND ANTHROPOLOGICAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THEM WAS STUDIED. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THERE WAS A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SERIOUSNESS AND EARLY APPEARANCE OF DISTURBANCES IN THE FAMILY AND THE EARLY APPEARANCE OF DIFFICULTIES FOR THE CHILD. AMONG THE CAUSES OF MALADJUSTMENT IN JUVENILES CITED WERE PARENTAL ALCOHOLISM, BROKEN HOMES AND A LOW LEVEL OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STATUS. FOR PART TWO OF THIS ARTICLE SEE NCJ30264. --IN FRENCH
