REGULATIONS GOVERNING RESIDENTIAL ALCOHOLISM AND DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAMS IN MAINE ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
A STATEMENT OF DEFINITIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAMS IS FOLLOWED BY AN OUTLINE OF PROCEDURES FOR LICENSING SUCH PROGRAMS (APPLICATION, INSPECTION, LICENSURE, SUSPENSION, DENIAL, OR REVOCATION OF LICENSE, PERIODIC REVIEW OF REGULATIONS, ETC.). A SECTION ON GOVERNING AUTHORITY AND MANAGEMENT COVERS PROGRAM OPERATION AND POLICIES, INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT PLANS, CASE RECORDS, CLIENT REFERRAL, ADMISSION AND DISCHARGE PROCEDURES, HUMAN AND LEGAL RIGHTS, RESEARCH, PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS, PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, CONTROL OF MEDICATION, SUICIDE OR SERIOUS INJURY, DIETETIC SERVICES, FISCAL MANAGEMENT, AND EVALUATION. OTHER SECTIONS SET FORTH REQUIREMENTS FOR EMERGENCY CARE, INPATIENT CARE, INTERMEDIATE CARE, OUTPATIENT CARE, OUTREACH ACTIVITIES, AFTERCARE, AND SHELTER (PRETREATMENT) SERVICES. THE REGULATIONS ALSO COVER DETENTION OF CLIENTS, USE OF FORCE, EMERGENCY COMMITMENTS, AND JUDICIAL COMMITMENT OF ALCOHOLICS. A COPY OF THE STATUTE WHICH THE REGULATIONS IMPLEMENT IS PROVIDED. (LKM)
