Caseload and expenditure statistics are presented for the Maine Judicial Branch, specifically for law, superior, district, and administrative courts and for indigent legal services and child protective filings
Abstract
The statistics compare Judicial Branch expenditures during fiscal years 1994 to 1998 for court operations and facilities, indigent legal services, mediation, court automation, the State Court Library, court-appointed special advocates, and judicial responsibility and disability. In addition, the statistics reflect trends in revenues for supreme, superior, district, and administrative courts for fiscal years 1992 to 1998. Statistics on the various courts primarily cover fiscal years 1989 to 1998. Data on the law court include court filings and dispositions and court opinions, data on the superior court include court filings and dispositions and distinguish between civil and criminal cases, data on the district court include court filings and caseload types, and data on the administrative court include caseload volume. Information is also provided on expenditures for indigent legal services, reimbursements paid by indigent defendants, and child protective filings. Tables and figures
