This 1990 annual report on the Lucas County Sex Offender Treatment Program (Ohio) presents information and statistics on program operations and achievements.
Abstract
The number of referrals increased from 43 in 1989 to 53 in 1990. Several juveniles in the program have been seen individually or in small groups for counseling by members of the treatment team or by their probation officers. Numerous others have been referred to counseling services in the community, and 19 juveniles have been court-ordered into the treatment component of the program. Although parents of program participants sometimes complain about being court ordered to participate in the parent support group, the majority of the parents find that they benefit from this program. In 1990 the parent group increased the frequency of its meetings from once a month to every 3 weeks, at the request of several participating parents. Individual and small-group counseling has been added for offenders who were either at low risk to reoffend but in need of some education, or awaiting inclusion in a court sex offender treatment group. The program continues to seek additional new members from the probation staff, training for all team members, increased parental participation, and participation of treatment team members in the local network of community service providers who offer sex offender treatment. Data and information are provided on program staff; referrals; sex offender treatment assessments; program and caseload activity; program time for offenders, parents, and staff; network activities; and 1991 goals.
