This report contains admissions statistics of the Prison Project Network (PPN), a drug abuse recovery service for eligible parolees in Los Angeles County, California.
Abstract
PPN was established to help State parolees to lead crime-free, sober lives when released from prison. The eligibility criteria are: 1) Shall be pending parole to, or be a parolee in Los Angeles County; 2) Shall have a history of substance abuse; 3) Shall not be a registered sex offender; and 4) Shall have no arson convictions in the past 5 years. Services are offered for up to 6 months and include outpatient, residential and nonresidential detoxification, drug treatment, and residential treatment/recovery. During the period July 1, 1992 to May 31, 1993, there were 411 admissions--of which one-third were repeat admissions. The average length of time in treatment was 43.9 days. Data are broken down by gender, type of service, provider, and length of time in treatment. A detailed description of PPN closes this report. Appendix, 2 graphs, 2 tables
