The paper presents the proposed procedures for a drug treatment boot camp for Los Angeles County. This program is designed to incorporate the concepts of a boot camp with a drug education/treatment component and addresses the needs of minors with substance abuse problems.
Abstract
The proposed program is being modified to meet the needs of juvenile offenders placed in a court-ordered program. The program is designed to emphasize that, although disciplined, highly structured, and military in style, it is not intended to be physically or emotionally abusive. The philosophy is to provide a highly structured drug education/treatment program which incorporates a component of physical exercise and work. The boot camp provides a basic foundation of structure and discipline within which drug treatment can occur. The specific goals of the program are listed, and participation and staff selection, staff responsibilities, and the camp phases are discussed. The attachment discusses the Job Training Partnership Act component of drug treatment boot camp, and two budgets conclude the paper.
