LOCKUP is a computerized jail management system whose primary function is to provide a tool for improving the quality of information maintained on inmate population and facility status.
Abstract
It provides an efficient means for recording and maintaining accurate and up-to-date inmate information by computerizing data collection and maintenance of all jail recordkeeping from inmate booking to release. The system incorporates automatic edit capabilities, thereby ensuring accuracy of information prior to storage. It provides a means for satisfying local, State, and Federal reporting requirements. A full range of jail management reports have been preprogrammed to be available on demand,, and an ad hoc reporting capability allows administrators to create additional reports. LOCKUP runs on IBM and compatible computers on a variety of microcomputer-based networks. It was developed under the dBase III Plux data base management system. Designed, for use in small- to medium-sized jails, it is to be used by staff as an integral part of the day-to-day recordkeeping routine.
