FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO DESCRIBE AND CRITIQUE THE OPERATIONS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM FROM THE PERSPECTIVES OF THE DUE PROCESS, CRIME CONTROL, REHABILITATION, AND ORGANIZATIONAL MODELS.
Abstract
THIS PROJECT WAS UNDERTAKEN IN RESPONSE TO THE PERCEIVED FAILINGS OF THE UNITED STATES' CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. THE METHODOLOGY EMPLOYED BY THE STUDY WAS TO REVIEW THE STATE-OF-THE-ART OF LITERATURE ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE THEORIES AS THEY RELATE TO PLANNING AND POLICY-MAKING. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES THAT BY MAKING POLICY-MAKERS AND PLANNERS AWARE OF THE SHORTCOMINGS INVOLVED WITH RELYING TOO HEAVILY ON ANY ONE MODEL, THEY WILL PRODUCE MORE BALANCED CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING.
