Abstract
THE EVENTS AND CULTURAL CLIMATE WHICH PRESSURED CONGRESS INTO PASSING THE ACT ARE DESCRIBED. THE AUTHORS PROPOSE THAT THE JENCKS ACT BE REPLACED BY LEGISLATION REQUIRING PROSECUTORS TO FURNISH RELEVANT INFORMATION TO THE DEFENSE SUBJECT TO A SHOWING OF REASONABLENESS AND MATERIALITY.
