Intended as a reference book to give lawyers a better understanding of the current status of children's law, this volume explains the Federal and State statutes which affect the present and future condition of minors.
Abstract
It deals with the full range of issues in which children are involved, from the primary rights to physical, intellectual, and emotional nurture to the rights in schools, mental institutions, and juvenile courts. Emancipation and independent living, foster care, adoption, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, Social Security, and custody are also discussed. The protection of children from exploitation through child labor, pornography and prostitution, and parental kidnapping is detailed, as is the protection of children from family maltreatment. Footnotes; indexes of cases, statutes, regulations, and main topics; and an appendix listing American Bar Association publications related to the legal rights of children are supplied.
