Abstract
The 1981 Family Violence Act is described, and the purpose, costs, and procedures for obtaining temporary protective orders are described. Sample criminal trial testimony in a battering case is presented. Types of warrants are described (e.g., simple or aggravated assault or battery, criminal trespass), and warrant offices are listed. Court levels are delineated, and organization charts are provided for the Fulton County Government and the legal system. The availability of escort and legal referral services for victims is noted. 7 references.
