THIS COMMITTEE WAS ESTABLISHED TO ASSESS THE EFFECTS OF THE ENERGY CRISIS ON THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS AND TO DEVELOP INFORMATION FOR LOCAL AGENCIES ON EFFECTIVE MEANS OF RESPONDING TO THE CRISIS.
Abstract
THIS REPORT SUMMARIZES THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AEROSPACE CORPORATION IN SUPPORT OF THE EMERGENCY ENERGY COMMITTEE FROM DECEMBER 1973 THROUGH JUNE 1974, STAFF SUPPORT ACTIVITIES IN THE FOUR BASIC AREAS OF ENERGY CONSERVATION, CRIME PREVENTION, ENFORCEMENT, AND INFORMATION ARE OUTLINED. A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE AEROSPACE ACTIVITY DURING THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF THE COMMITTEE'S OPERATION (MARCH THROUGH JUNE 1974) IS ALSO INCLUDED. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT STUDY AND ANALYSIS BE CONTINUED TO DETERMINE POTENTIAL USES OF COMPACT OR SUB-COMPACT SIZE POLICE PATROL CARS. IT WAS ALSO SUGGESTED THAT A CONTINUING DIALOGUE BE MAINTAINED WITH THE FEDERAL ENERGY OFFICE ON TOPICS SUCH AS MANDATORY PETROLEUM ALLOCATION, PRICING REGULATIONS, AND ANY RATIONING OR CONSERVATION CONTINGENCY PLANS.
