Abstract
THE LEGAL ROLE OF LAY JUDGES IN POLAND IS OUTLINED. THE FAVORABLE SELF-CONCEPT OF THE LAYMEN IS COMPARED WITH THOSE PREVAILING WITHIN THE LEGAL PROFESSION. THE REAL FUNCTIONING OF LAY PARTICIPATION IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IS CONTRASTED WITH THE LEGAL MODEL.
