Abstract
SIGNIFICANT EVENTS OF 1974 INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: LEAA ENCOURAGED THE STATES TO DEVELOP STANDARDS AND GOALS FOR THEIR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS; LEAA RELEASED THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF SURVEYS ON THE NUMBER AND TYPE OF CRIME VICTIMS IN THE COUNTRY'S FIVE LARGEST CITIES AND IN THE EIGHT IMPACT CITIES; AND LEAA DEVELOPED NEW PROGRAMS FOR INVOLVING THE CITIZEN IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND FOR MAKING THE SYSTEM MORE RESPONSIVE TO CITIZEN NEEDS.
