DISCUSSION OF THE PHILOSOPHY AND OPERATION OF THIS PRIVATE, CHARITABLE AFTERCARE ORGANIZATION IN ENGLAND FOR MEN RELEASED FROM PRISON WITH NOWHERE TO GO AND NO OUTSIDE PERSONAL CONTACTS.
Abstract
THE TRUST OPERATES TWELVE 'REINTRY/REINTEGRATION-TYPE' HOUSES, WITH A TOTAL OF 240 BEDS. THE HOUSES ARE DIVIDED INTO THREE MAIN GROUPS - HALF-WAY HOUSES, FULLY SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITIES (FOR MEN WHO ARE NOT CAPABLE OF OBTAINING OR HOLDING DOWN A JOB, AND HOMES FOR RETIREMENT-AGE MEN AND OTHERS WHO ARE YOUNGER BUT HAVE NO FURTHER WORK EXPECTANCY. THE AVERAGE STAY IS AROUND SIX MONTHS PER MAN, AND ALL AGES ARE ACCEPTED FROM SIXTEEN YEARS OLD UPWARD.
