EXPERIMENTAL POLICE PROGRAM DESIGNED TO SETTLE LANDLORD TENANT DISPUTES.
Abstract
THE GOAL OF THE UNIT IS TO ENHANCE POLICE COMPETENCE. OFFICERS CAN DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSES OF LANDLORD-TENANT DISPUTES, TO REFER THESE DISPUTANTS TO THE PROPER AGENCIES FOR RESOLUTION, AND IN SOME CASES ACHIEVE SETTLEMENT WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF REFERRAL. RESULTS FROM THIS PROGRAM ARE ANTICIPATED TO FILL THE EXISTING REMEDY GAP, RENDER EQUITABLE ASSISTANCE TO BOTH PARTIES, AND ACCOMPLISH A FAIR SETTLEMENT OF THE DISPUTE WITHOUT THE NECESSITY OF ARREST AND PROSECUTION.
