THIS REPORT IS THE SECOND OF A SERIES OF SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS WHICH EVALUATE RESULTS FROM A GROUPING OF SAMPLES USED IN THIS STUDY OF THE PROFICIENCY OF FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORIES.
Abstract
THE PROFICIENCY TESTING PROJECT, INITIATED IN THE FALL OF 1974, IS A RESEARCH STUDY OF HOW TO PREPARE AND DISTRIBUTE SPECIFIC SAMPLES; HOW TO ANALYZE LABORATORY RESULTS; AND HOW TO REPORT THOSE RESULTS IN A MEANINGFUL MANNER. PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY AND ANONYMOUS, AND INVOLVES APROXIMATELY 240 LABORATORIES. TO DATE, 21 SAMPLES OF EVIDENCE HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED.
