Abstract
SECURITY OF THE HOME IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO A REDUCTION OF KIDNAP AND EXTORTION OPPORTUNITIES. FLOOR PLANS, PHYSICAL SECURITY, DOORS, WINDOWS, LOCKS, LIGHTS, AND ALARMS ARE DISCUSSED, AS IS THE DAILY ROUTINE OUTSIDE THE HOME; SUGGESTIONS ON VEHICLE SECURITY AND ROUTE PLANNING ARE INCLUDED. PROCEDURAL CONSIDERATIONS AND RESPONSE PLANS IN THE FACE OF AN ACTUAL KIDNAP AND EXTORTION SITUATION ARE OUTLINED. DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATION OF A KIDNAP/EXTORTON PROFILE ARE ALSO PRESENTED. THESE PROFILES CONTAIN INFORMATON ON FAMILY MEMBERS, FINGERPRINTS, AND VOICE COMPARISONS THAT WOULD BE USED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL INVESTIGATING KIDNAP AND EXTORTION CASES. A SAMPLE PROFILE FORMAT IS INCLUDED IN AN ADDENDUM. A SAMPLE FACT SHEET PERTAINING TO THE RECEIPT OF EXTORTION COMMUNICATIONS IS ALSO PROVIDED. (KBL)
