This report is an attempt to identify the key trends in crime and criminal justice in New South Wales and measure the scale of the changes involved in those trends.

Statistical and narrative data are presented for trends in the following categories: (1) Recorded crime (offense rates per 100,000 population for selected offenses, relative frequency of selected offenses, single year clear-up percentages for selected offenses); (2) criminal court processes (local, district, supreme); (3) correctional processes (prisoner populations, prisoner receptions, community-based corrections); and (4) juvenile justice (finalizations, outcomes).
