This fiscal year 1990 annual report of the Kansas Department of Corrections demonstrates the impact community corrections programs had on the criminal justice system during the year.
Abstract
The 1989 Kansas legislature approved the expansion of community corrections programming to all Kansas counties. All community corrections programs were funded to begin operation on July 1, 1990. The community corrections staff of the Department of Corrections spent the bulk of the fiscal year educating and preparing the new counties for the implementation of their program. The community corrections programs are designed to allow an offender to remain in the community under controlled conditions. This report presents data on community service hours performed by offenders; wages, taxes, and restitution paid by offenders; screenings for fiscal year 1990; the average length of stay for successful completions; expenditure analysis; and admissions, revocations, successful completions, and discharges. Data are also provided on active cases at the end of each month and expenditures, by major program components, for adult programs, for juvenile programs, and for other programs. Adult intensive supervision audits and residential program audits are presented for the counties that had community corrections programs during the fiscal year.
