THE KANSAS PLAN FOR COMPLYING WITH DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE REGULATIONS REGARDING THE SECURITY, INTEGRITY, AND CONFIDENTIALITY OF CRIMINAL HISTORY DATA IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE KANSAS PLAN IDENTIFIES THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE STATE IS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS AND DEFINES ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN TO BRING THE STATE INTO FULL COMPLIANCE BY DECEMBER 1977. THE PLAN OPENS WITH AN OVERVIEW OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACTIVITIES IN KANSAS. FEDERAL PRIVACY AND SECURITY REQUIREMENTS ARE RELATED TO THE KANSAS ENVIRONMENT. MAJOR ASPECTS OF THE FEDERAL REGULATIONS WITH REGARD TO COMPLETENESS AND ACCURACY, LIMITS ON DISSEMINATION, AUDITS AND QUALITY CONTROL, SECURITY, AND ACCESS AND REVIEW ARE DESCRIBED AS THEY PERTAIN TO KANSAS. RELEVANT LEGISLATION ENACTED OR PENDING IN KANSAS IS LISTED, AND PLANNED MILESTONES FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT OF COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS ARE SUMMARIZED. AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR ACHIEVING EACH MILESTONE ARE IDENTIFIED.
