Abstract
THE AUTHOR PRESENTS JUVENILE JUSTICE AS A SYSTEM, EMPHASIZING THE VARIOUS ROLES OF AND RELATIONSHIPS AMONG THE ACTORS IN THE PROCESS - JUDGES, DELINQUENTS, FAMILIES, POLICE, AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES. HE EXAMINES DIVERSION, DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND CONTROL, DETENTION, PROBATION, AND TREATMENT AND PAROLE WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE RIGHTS AND NEEDS OF THE JUVENILE OFFENDER. ALSO ANALYZED ARE THE JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, THE NEGLECTED OR ABUSED CHILD, AND THE FUTURE OF THE JUVENILE COURT SYSTEM IN LIGHT OF RECENT JUDICIAL DECISIONS.
