This report presents the average referral time intervals between a juvenile's arrest date and referral closure.
Abstract
In addition to documenting time involved in juvenile referral processing, the report also reviews the degree of statutory compliance with requirements set forth in Florida statutes. The source of the data used in this report is the Client Information System, a database managed by the Department of Children and Families. Section One contains summary information and maps of Florida's 20 judicial circuits and 15 Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) districts. Section Two consists of charts and general comparative data categorized by the judicial circuits and DJJ districts. Section Three presents four tabled appendixes that contain the aggregate data. Report data show that the 17th Judicial Circuit and DJJ District 10 had the highest average number of days from arrest to referral closure, and the 4th Judicial Circuit and DJJ District 4 had the lowest. A report summary presents statistics by county on time from: arrest to referral closure, arrest to DJJ referral, DJJ referral to recommendation to state attorney, recommendation to state attorney to disposition, and disposition to date closed.
