AFTER PROVIDING A SUMMARY OF JUVENILE CRIME STATISTICS FOR 1969-1974 FOR VARIOUS BRITISH CITIES, THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES REMEDIAL POLICIES AND POSSIBLE CAUSES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STRESSES THE NEED FOR MORE TREATMENT RESOURCES, MORE COMMUNITY HOMES, AND MORE SECURE TREATMENT OF SERIOUS RECIDIVIST DELINQUENTS TO COUNTERACT THE RAPIDLY INCREASING JUVENILE DELINQUENCY RATES. HE ALSO RECOMMENDS A SHIFT FROM REMEDIAL CASEWORK TO PREVENTIVE COMMUNITY WORK. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
