Abstract
CURRENT ATTENTION ON HOW THE COURTS ARE RUN IS PART OF A BROADER INTEREST IN PUBLIC POLICY AND THE ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS. WHILE THIS TEXT DOES NOT TEACH THE TECHNIQUES OR THE ART OF USING ORGANIZATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS IN THE COURTS, IT DOES PROVIDE SOMETHING PRELIMINARY TO BOTH: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE COURTS IN THEIR ADMINISTRATIVE SETTING, AN INTRODUCTION WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR ANYONE ASPIRING TO UNDERSTAND JUDICIAL ADMINISTRATION. THE SELECTED READINGS, AUTHORED BY SCHOLARS, JUDGES, COURT ADMINISTRATORS, AND OTHER AUTHORITIES IN THE ACADEMIC AND JUDICIAL FIELDS ARE INTERSPERSED WITH RELATED TEXTUAL MATERIAL TO AID STUDENT UNDERSTANDNG. THE READINGS OFFER A VARIETY OF POINTS OF VIEW, VARYING LEVELS OF ACADEMIC DIFFICULTY, NUMEROUS PERSONAL INSIGHTS, AND ANALYTICAL OVERVIEWS.
