Abstract
THIS CHAPTER IS PART OF AN OVERALL REVISION OF THE AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION'S 'STANDARDS RELATING TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE.' (THE FIRST EDITION WAS PUBLISHED OVER THE PERIOD 1968-1973.) MOST OF THIS CHAPTER IS NEW, CONTAINING PROVISIONS PREVIOUSLY FOUND UNDER OTHER SECTIONS AND ADDING MATERIALS REFLECTING MAJOR JUDICIAL DECISIONS OF THE EARLY 1970'S. FOLLOWING A SECTION OF DEFINITIONS, EACH STANDARD IS PRINTED, FOLLOWED BY A LISTING OF RELATED NATIONAL STANDARDS, AND AN EXTENSIVE COMMENTARY. THE COMMENTARIES ARE FOLLOWED BY FOOTNOTES AND CASE CITATIONS. (GLR)
