SERIES OF FIVE ARTICLES DEALING WITH VARIOUS INTERPERSONAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE WORK OF POLICE OFFICERS.
Abstract
IT DEALS WITH SUCH FUNDAMENTAL PSYCHOLOGICAL CONCEPTS AS CONFLICT, CONFLICT INTERVENTION, AND ATTITUDES AS FACTORS OF PERFORMANCE. THE TEXT DISCUSSES THE EMOTIONAL STABILITY OF A POLICE OFFICER IN TERMS OF HIS OWN PROFESSIONAL NEEDS AND DUTIES AND EXAMINES THE ACCURACY WITH WHICH HE RECOGNIZES AND REACTS TO THREATS AND CHALLENGES. THE FOCUS IS NOT ONLY ON INTERACTION AMONG POLICE OFFICERS, BUT POLICE-CITIZEN CONTRACTS AS WELL. SUGGESTIONS ARE OFFERED FOR DEVELOPING HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS, AND MORE SPECIFICALLY, FOR IMPROVING POLICECOMMUNITY RELATIONS. THE MATERIAL IS PRESENTED IN AN EASILY COMPREHENSIBLE FORMAT AND IS ESSENTIALLY MEANT TO BE USED, IN PRACTICAL SITUATIONS, BY OFFICERS WHO NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR.
