This Field Training Resource Manual for the Irvine Police Department (California) provides the information and procedures necessary for completing all phases of field training tasks.
Abstract
Phase 1 consists of a combination of 30 tasks, units of knowledge, and procedures. Among the topics reviewed are codes for emergency calls for help and the use of the vehicle tracking system, the chain of command for the field training officer program, procedures for handling various types of damage to city property, geographic orientation, and radio operation. Phase 2 addresses various types of specialized police tasks, such as adult booking procedures, animal services, bicycle reports, court preparation and testimony, crime scene investigation, disturbances, family disputes and domestic violence, and high-risk vehicle stops. Phase 3 focuses on the laws and police procedures pertinent to various types of crime and emergencies. These include homicide investigations, immigration violations, narcotics, robbery, safety hazards, gangs and organized crime, hazardous materials incidents, and power outages.
