THE PERFORMANCE OF AN ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PERSONNEL AND TRAINING HIRED BY THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY IS ASSESSED.
Abstract
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR ARE AS FOLLOWS: TO CONDUCT ALL GRIEVANCE HEARINGS; TO ASSUME THE DIRECTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES IN HIS ABSENCE; TO IMPLMENT AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, AND OTHER PROGRAMS; TO STANDARDIZE AND COORDINATE INSERVICE TRAINING FOR SWORN PERSONNEL; TO HELP DEVELOP RECRUITMENT, PLACEMENT, SCREENING, AND TRAINING PROCEDURES; TO CONDUCT STAFF DEVELOPMENT COURSES; TO CONSOLIDATE PERSONNEL RECORDS INTO A CENTRAL SYSTEM; TO REDUCE TURN-AROUND TIME FOR PROCESSING EMPLOYMENT APLICATIONS; TO ADMINISTER THE STATE'S MERIT RULES IN THE DEPARTMENT; AND TO CONDUCT A TASK ANALYSIS OF THE POSITION OF PEACE OFFICER. A LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IS PRESENTED, BASED ON A REVIEW OF DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS. THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR IS SAID TO BE ADDRESSING THE RESPONSIBILITES OF HER POSITION AND TO HAVE RELIEVED SWORN PERSONNEL OF ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES.
