This sound-slide audiovisual program discusses the chi-square distribution, histograms, usage of chi-square to test hypotheses, use of chi-square to test independence, and null hypothesis.
Abstract
The concept of chi-square is introduced and the description is followed by examples, problems, and solution frames. The major topics considered in the program are (1) the chi-square test and distribution, (2) derivation of chi-square, (3) formula for chi-square, (4) the chi-square table, and (5) chi-square as a test for independence and the contingency table. The frame number on which each topic begins is provided. In addition, a worksheet has been included with the program to give students more experience with the types of problems discussed. The worksheet may be duplicated for classroom use along with the program; answers to the problems are included in the teacher's guide. Instructions for presentation and a script are also included. For complementary materials, see NCJ 72502 and 72504-07. (Author abstract modified)
