This manual is designed to help law enforcement trainers and criminal justice educators develop an appropriate lesson plan on interviewing procedures and techniques and to cover the performance objectives developed by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training as part of its basic course guidelines system.
Abstract
The manual includes learning goals and performance objectives for the unit on interviewing, as well as an outline of the unit. It also notes that no special materials or equipment are needed for the unit. The outline focuses on the differences between interviewing and interrogating; the steps that a law enforcement officer should take in preparing for an interview with suspects, victims, witnesses, and other officers; and the steps to use in conducting the interview. 3 references
