An interview with a leading injury control expert and executive director of the Trauma Foundation and the Pacific Center for Violence Prevention at San Francisco General Hospital is presented that focuses on youth violence.
Abstract
Questions and answers deal with approaches taken by the Trauma Foundation and the Pacific Center for Violence Prevention in response to concerns over youth violence. The Trauma Foundation is charged with working on three specific policy issues: reducing firearm-related injuries, increasing youth violence prevention programs, and reducing youth alcohol and other drug consumption. The Pacific Center's violence prevention initiative, funded for 5 years, includes policy, community action, leadership, and research programs. Interview questions and answers provide information on youth violence prevention initiatives, violence causes, gun control, the link between drugs and violence, and policy issues associated with prison management.
