A counseling and education program for batterers is evaluated.
Abstract
This evaluation was conducted in two stages. The first stage involved collecting cross sectional data from 92 assailants and 77 victims at different program phases. Lower rates of abuse were reported at later program phases with significant reductions in physical and psychological abuse occurring during the first three months of the program. Victims reported higher rates of abuse than did assailants. The second stage involved collecting followup data from 39 victims twelve months after program completion. This data indicated significantly lower rates of abuse. 22 references, 2 tables, appendix. (Author abstract modified)
