AN INTERSTATE APPROACH TO UPGRADING CORRECTIONAL MANPOWER AND STAFF THROUGH SPECIALIZED TRAINING IS DESCRIBED.
Abstract
THE WESTERN INTERSTATE COMMISSION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (WICHE) ENCOMPASSES 11 WESTERN STATES IN CONTINENTAL U.S. PLUS ALASKA AND HAWAII. ITS PROJECT WAS TO DEVELOP TRAINING AND CURRICULUM MATERIALS FOR USE IN COLLEGES, AND TO UPGRADE PRESENT CORRECTIONAL SYSTEMS BY CONTINUING EDUCATION SEMINARS, FACULTY PLACEMENT IN CORRECTIONAL AGENCIES, AND TRAVELING FIELD CONSULTANTS. A LIST OF PUBLICATIONS RESULTING FROM THE PROJECT AND SPINOFF PROPOSALS ARE ABSTRACTED. A SUMMARY OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES IS SHOWN BY STATE. FUTURE ACTIVITIES AS A RESULT OF THIS PROJECT ARE PRESENTED.
