This document reports on activities at the 104th International Training Course on International Cooperation in Criminal Justice Administration.
Abstract
Course participants discussed international cooperation from various perspectives and analyzed the appropriateness of existing principles such as the necessity of international cooperation treaties between signatory countries, as opposed to domestic laws which provide international cooperation to any country without requiring a treaty, but require the guarantee of reciprocity from the requesting country; and the effectiveness of the treatment of foreign prisoners before they return to their countries. In addition, participants attended lectures, presentations, and workshops on various topics, including: (1) crime and the criminal justice systems in numerous individual countries; (2) the role of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) in the criminal justice system; (3) international prisoner transfer; (4) extradition; (5) economic crime investigation; and (6) international cooperation in several dozen specific areas.
