The Intensive Supervision Program established in Kentucky in 1984 provides an alternative to incarceration for offenders identified as too high-risk for regular probation but who may not necessarily require incarceration.
Abstract
It also provides an alternative to further incarceration for some potential parolees and an alternative to revocation and incarceration for parole and probation violators. The program involves one office contact per week with the probation and parole officer, a monthly home visit by the officer, a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., weekly employment verification, and several other conditions. Officers' caseloads are 25 clients or less. List of eligibility criteria and tables and discussions of the use of the program in fiscal year 1987-88 are included.
