REPORT UPON THE SUCCESSFUL EFFORTS TO SEEK ELIMINATION OF THE USE OF INTELLIGENCE TESTING AS A MEANS OF SELECTING JURORS IN THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERIOR COURTS.
Abstract
THE LEGAL JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS PROCESS OF JUROR SELECTION IS GIVEN AS THE RIGHT OF THE ACCUSED TO A TRIAL BY AN IMPARTIAL JURY OF HIS PEERS. THE TEST DEVELOPED TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT A PERSON WOULD BE IMPANELED FOR JURY SERVICE, THE PROSPECTIVE JUROR EXAMINATION (PJE), IS DESCRIBED. COURT CHALLENGES TO THE PROCESS AND THEIR OUTCOMES ARE EXAMINED.
