The vast majority of imprisoned women have children and a sizeable portion have either preschool children or infants.
Abstract
The detrimental effect of separation on both the children and the mother is well documented in the literature. The present study is intended as a survey of the legislatively established programs in the States for provision of in-house care of their children by the inmate mothers. This is a descriptive study which catalogs the types and quantity of programs available. 14 footnotes, 38 references, and 1 table. (Author abstract)
