This bulletin describes criminal justice research, publications, and conferences sponsored by the University of Geneva Law School.
Abstract
Summaries of ongoing research and publications include such varied topics as parole and recidivism in several Swiss states, individual concepts of justice and responsibility among first-year law students, and an evaluation of the Swiss Crime Victims Assistance Law of 1995. A detailed summary explores the failure of the Swiss clean air laws to reach the emission standards set in 1986. Information on each project includes research context and limits, research methods, and results. The section on courses, colloquiums, and conferences focuses primarily on the 49th International Course of the International Society of Criminology, which took place in Belgium in 1994. The series of workshops focused on two topics: Delinquency and Urban Security (including differences in the crime of urban and rural areas); and Organized Crime and International Business. A list of 31 texts recently acquired by CETEL's library is appended.
