Abstract
DATA FOR THIS REPORT WAS COLLECTED FROM TRIAL JUDGES, THEIR STAFFS, AND COURT ADMINISTRATORS' OFFICES. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE INDIANA COURT SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED AND ILLUSTRATED ON A CHART. TABLES SHOW THE JURISDICTION OF TRIAL COURTS AND NUMBERS OF JUDGES BY COUNTY. INFORMATION ON TRIAL COURT CASELOADS IS CATEGORIZED BY TYPE OF CASE AND METHOD OF DISPOSITION. DEFINITIONS OF LEGAL TERMS PRECEDE THE TABLES WHICH PROVIDE SUMMARIES AS WELL AS DETAILED MATERIAL ON EACH COUNTY AND COURT. THE STUDY INCLUDES CASELOAD REPORTS ON THE INDIANA COURT OF APPEALS AND THE SUPREME COURT WHICH ARE ANALYZED ACCORDING TO INDIVIDUAL JUDGES. THE FISCAL REPORT DESCRIBES THE BUDGET AND LISTS FEES AND FINES WHICH THE COURTS COLLECT. TABLES PRESENT DETAILED BREAKDOWNS OF REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES FOR STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL COURTS. (MJM)
