              A description and the legislative history of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 is provided.
          Abstract
              The Act strengthens Federal efforts to encourage foreign cooperation in eradicating illicit drug crops and in halting international drug traffic. In addition, the Act improves enforcement of Federal drug laws and enhances interdiction of illicit drug shipment as well as providing strong Federal leadership in establishing effective drug abuse prevention and education programs and expanding Federal support for drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation efforts. Provisions within the Act include the apprehension and prosecution of violators, adjudication, public correctional resources, demonstration programs, and State strategy
