Abstract
Online brochures, traditional publications and brochures, and CD-ROM’s are offered by the American Red Cross in order to help individuals and families prepare for any type of disaster and overcome the emotional and physical reactions caused by disasters. The following disaster-related materials are available through the American Red Cross: “Terrorism, Preparing for the Unexpected,” “American Red Cross Homeland Security Advisory System Recommendations,” “Anthrax Questions and Answers,” “Your Family Disaster Plan,” “Your Family Disaster Supplies Kit,” “Disaster Preparedness for People with Disabilities,” “Disaster Preparedness for People with Disabilities Audio Cassette,” “Food and Water in an Emergency,” “Preparing Your Business for the Unthinkable --Brochure,” “ How Do I Deal With My Feelings?,” "Helping Young Children Cope with Trauma,” “When Bad Things Happen,” “Why Do I Feel Like This?,” “Guide for Families Affected by Transportation Disasters,” and “Facing Fear: Helping Young People Deal With Terrorism and Tragic Events.” A brief narrative description of each publication is offered in this index. For example, the publication entitled, “Terrorism, Preparing for the Unexpected” is a brochure for the general public that offers fundamental family disaster preparedness tips for families, including what to do when a disaster strikes and how to find shelter. An abbreviated first aid primer is included. The “American Red Cross Homeland Security Advisory System Recommendations” is a brochure that provides instructions for what to do at each color-coded level of the Homeland Security Advisory System. Separate brochures of this publication are available for individuals, families, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses. A CD-ROM entitled, “Terrorism-Related Materials CD-ROM” with PDF files contains all the documents listed in this index. See your local Red Cross chapter for information on ordering.
