The listings include monographs, dissertations, journal articles, and audiovisual materials published or produced in English. The book is divided into eight chapters, wtih the first chapter including significant monographs and dissertations published since 1960. The next six chapters list journal articles from psychological, sociological and legal, anthropological, medical and scientific, popular, and literary periodicals. The psychological articles focus on the individual characteriestics of participants in incestuous activities. Sociological and legal articles address forces in society which promote, treat, or proscribe incestuous relations, while the anthropological articles deal with the cultural and anthropological aspects of incest, especially in primitive cultures or historical societies. The meidical and scientific articles focus on the role of physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals in detecting and treating members of the incestuous family. The popular articles are drawn from popular magazines readily available at newsstands, and the literary articles are composed of representative examples of contemporary criticism of literary works which use the incest motif, including novels, poetry, and drama. The last chapter lists relevent audiovisual materials.
